Using humor in the classroom

“Because I know that a good laugh eases tension, increases creativity, … I will do almost anything to get the class rolling with laughter — voice inflections, exaggerated facial expressions and movements, hilarious personal stories (of which I have way too many), ridiculous examples…and I encourage my students to do the same.”
— Kaywin Cottle, Speech Communications teacher (NEA Facebook)

Storytelling

  • Storytelling is an activity that can transfer emotions and feelings and also can boost thinking capacity.
  • We can use it to help children  increase the memory capacity
  • They get to know about various places, practices in life, relationships etc., through stories.
  • Most of the stories depict good and bad characters. Listening to stories will help children to have an idea of accepted style of behaviors and must to avoid acts.
  • Story telling introduces lot of new vocabulary to children.
  • It can enhance the listening skills of children.

More catch-up

Here's a Thinglink I prepared to use with my CAE students as a trigger for arguments they will need for writing an essay on the impact of communication technologies on our lives.

Catching up on the class I missed!

Using Movenote

Here's my first Movenote presentation. I'm planning to use it with my Teens 1 students for revising the language of physical descriptions. After watching the presentation, the students will be encouraged to produce their own descriptions to be shared on Padlet.
